It just doesn't make any sense to me that LDS call themselves Christians, they do not believe what Christians believe, that just baffles me.

Yes we do. What specifically do you think we do not believe that makes you say that?

I've accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior -- isn't that a Christian belief?

Rather off topic, but...

I agree with FarSeer. The name of the LDS church is actually, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins and without his atonement we cannot be "saved." We do not believe works saves us as many fundamentalist Christians like to say we do. We do believe we need to do our best to live the Gospel, but in the end, after we have done all we can, we believe the Savior makes up the difference.

We get this belief from the Bible:

QUOTE
James 2: 20
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

QUOTE
James 2: 26
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Just because we don't agree on whether or not we need to make our best effort to make it to heaven doesn't mean we don't accept Jesus Christ as our Savior. Why must we accept things the way you do to be Christian? If we want to be Baptist, then we need to accept what the Baptists say. If we want to be Catholic, we must accept what the Catholics say, but to be labeled with the generic description of Christian, we simply need to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, which we do.

If you accept Catholics as Christians you should be able to accept members of the LDS Church as Christians, as well. This isn't meant as a slam against Catholics, I am simply pointing out that Catholics have certain beliefs that also aren't in tune with most fundamentalist Christian organizations. Why are we such a threat to you?

All I want is for the LDS to know that they thus far have not experienced God's peace. I know that being LDS has brought some peace, but it is not what God had in mind for you. I don't blame you for being LDS--I know that you are because it is an honest reaction to the truth presented to you. But it is time to move on with your relationship with God. To greater things, to a fullness of His love.

Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord can be exaulted and made perfect in His sight, simply through their faith. That is the good news I would like to share.

That is a very opinionated view especially as you have no factual evidence for such a claim and we do not accept it here. If you are coming to ask a question then ask... you will get an answer, if you are coming to discuss something, then discuss it, but if you are just coming to tell members they are somehow wrong in what they believe then you will be breaking forum rules and your account will be closed.

Well, unike Ryan's post, bless him, I don't have any words of condemnation for the LDS (if that was what he was implying). Most likely I believe the same thing he does, however. I believe that God is at peace completely with every man right now, because of what Jesus did on the cross. So how could I find fault with anyone, if I believe this? We participate in that peace, through our faith. So I am active in pointing others to the cross. Through teaching, which is what Jesus did and what forums are all about, I would like to show any LDS peoples that through experiences with God or through scripture, that God has a full peace waiting for them to take part of today.

What I need is someone who is interested in hearing. So I will wait and see if there is anyone interested. Is that okay?

I am praying for the people who like to come to this forum. I am praying that He might call them to Himself, just as He does for me. That His Spirit would come upon them and soften their hearts, just like He does mine. That He might use me to proclaim something in His heart. If anyone comes, I will give God the credit.

How do you know that LDS people don't have that peace? We are followers of Jesus Christ. We accept him as our Savior and recognize that only through him are we "saved."
