In (4 Kings) I found the story of a leper. But this wasn't just any leper, he was the general of the army of the king of Syria. A little Jewish slave girl waited on the lepers wife and told her of a prophet in Israel that could heal the general. His king sent him with gold, and silver, and clothes to the prophet Eliseus.

QUOTE
And Eliseus sent a messenger to him saying: Go, and wash seven times in the Jordan, and thy flesh shall recover health, and thou shalt be clean. (4 Kings 5:10) Then he went down, and washed in the Jordan seven times according to the word of the man of God, and his flesh was restored, like the flesh of a little child, and he was made clean. (4 Kings 5:14)

You, of the fanatic-religious and "holy roller" orders, will say, "He was a prophet of God, so he could heal people." You have the old and new testaments mixed together to fit your purpose. Jesus Christ healed people. There is not one sickness in the old testament, not one incident, where the God of the Jews healed, or prescribed a medicine to heal the person. His answer to everything was, "unclean!" Get out of camp, or go to your tent until the condition passes, then apologize, sacrifice, and purify yourself in lustral water. So who did this prophet learn about leprosy from? I have no idea, but the general's leprosy was an interesting story.

WOMEN
How women were treated in the Old Testament is something we would not stand for today. But God ordered it, or stood by and watched it happen, repeatedly. Women, at that time, were obviously not equal in the eyes of men or God. They were just tools, or pawns, or sex objects to be used to the best advantage of both God and man. The first account of man using a woman to his advantage is the story of Abram going into Egypt. He was afraid of the Egyptians, so he
told his wife;

QUOTE
"I know that you are a woman beautiful to behold. When the Egyptians see you, they will say, "She is his wife"; then they will kill me, but will spare you. Therefore, say you are my sister so that I may be treated well on your account, and my life may be spared for your sake. (Genesis 12:10)

Abram didn't have the intestinal fortitude to tell the world he was married to a beautiful woman.

Sarai said to Abram,
QUOTE
"The Lord has kept me from bearing; go into my maid; perhaps I shall get children through her." (Genesis 16:2)

I searched, but found nothing Sarai did to deserve this kind of treatment from her God. She must have wanted children desperately to give Abram her maid. Sarai initiated the idea of getting children through her maid, then when her maid, "looked on her with disdain" she told Abram to choose. God's chosen leader backed away saying, "Do to her what seems good to you." So Sarai saw that the maid was cast out.

Then after God watched all this happen to Agar, He sent an angel down to find her at a spring in the desert. The angel told her, "Return to your mistress and submit to her authority." Abram wouldn't stand up to Sarai so the maid left, only to be told by God to ...return and submit? Agar was caught in the middle and her feelings meant absolutely nothing.

There must have been a belief in that day, that to look upon God caused death. Agar confused the angel of the Lord that appeared to her with her God and

QUOTE
...named the Lord, who spoke to her: "You are the God of Vision"; for she said, "Have I really seen God and REMAINED ALIVE after my vision?" (Genesis 16:13)

Did she see an angel or was it God Himself? We are told first it was an angel,
then she saw God. Confusing!

In the story of Sodom and Gomora, two angels walked past Lot at the city gate. He recognized them and fell face to the ground, and asked them to stay the night with him. They told him they would stay the night in the square. But when he urged them to stay, they went to his house where he fed them. Before the angels went to
sleep, the townsmen of Sodom surrounded the house and called out to Lot, and said to him,
QUOTE
"Where are the MEN who came to your house tonight? Bring them out that we may abuse them." Lot went out to the men, and shut the door behind him, and said, "I entreat you, brethren, do not act wickedly. I have two daughters who have
not known man. Let me bring them out to you; do as you please with them. Only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof." (Genesis 19:5)

The two angels came to the gates of Sodom looking like men. Just like men, they had dirty feet to be washed, and they wanted to stay in the public square. They didn't look like angels. If they had, they would have drawn an immediate crowd, but Lot recognized them and ...fell prostrate. The townsmen wanted to know where the MEN were that came to Lot's house. Lot knew who the MEN (angels) were because he recognized them at the city gate. Because he knew who they
were, he offered his two VIRGIN daughters to a mob! But offering his virgin daughters wasn't enough, he told them, "DO AS YOU PLEASE WITH THEM!" What a gutless slob! What an donkey! I have never met a man in my life who would not die before offering his virgin daughters to a mob.

Later, when Lot lost his wife, he led his (still) virgin daughters away from Sodom to live in a cave in the hills. His daughters must have grown tired of the isolation, because

QUOTE
...the elder said to the younger, "Our father is old, and there is no man in the land to marry us as is the custom everywhere. Let us give our father wine to drink, then lie with him, that we may have offspring by our father." (Genesis 19:32) Thus both daughters of Lot were with child by their father. (Genesis 19:36)

This must have been all right with God because not only did he not punish the two women, or Lot, he let them multiply into the Moabites and the Ammonites. Yet in
the third book of the Bible, God lays down the law.
QUOTE
"None of you shall approach a close relative to have sexual intercourse with her. I am the Lord." (Leviticus 18:6)

Is it right or wrong? God looked the other way when Lot had sex with his virgin daughters, but said in Leviticus it is wrong! God didn't kill Lot for sleeping with his own daughters, but says you will die if you are homosexual. (Leviticus
20:13)
But is incest sometimes all right? Sodom and Gomorra were destroyed because their, 'sin was very great," but drunken Lot had sex with both of his daughters and God said nothing!

Once again, gutless Abraham lied about his wife. The first time he did this, he was given flocks, herds, he-asses, men servants, maid servants, she-asses and camels. Then when Pharao found him out, he ran Abraham off. Not bad for loaning your wife out to the Pharao! But this time the lie makes matters a little more
complicated. Abraham said of Sara his wife, "She is my sister." So Abimelech, king of Gerara, sent and took Sara.

Filing it won't do you any good, you have to accept Jesus into your life and stop looking for errors in the Bible. The gospel of Jesus is where it's at so nevermind the what a few books in the Old Testament had to say.

Saved, I have to assume that, unlike the majority of christians, you don't believe in the complete in errancy of the Bible? I'm good with that, but don't you think that if some of the Bible can simply be discarded, that you can simply discard what ever else of the Bible that makes you uncomfortable? And if you can't, then you have to reason through every bloody battle that god commanded in the old testament.
