Russian police detain protesters
Seven opponents of President Vladimir Putin were sentenced to prison terms ranging from two and a half to four years on Monday over a demonstration that turned violent, and riot police detained over 100 people protesting outside the court. Ref. Source 5
The Russians have a completely different set of laws and standards than we do IRT handling these situations. The Russians take a much more authoritarian and violent approach when dealing with civil unrest. In truth, there are vast differences even among Western Democracies in how events like this are handled.
