Unrest Civil Somalia

Unfortunately, this is one of my areas of expertise. I've been to Somalia and it is a dangerous place. It is broken up into tribes and factions and the Government is nearly non-existent. Factions fight for control of services, like to control the water supply plant in Mogadishu is a huge thing. To control the port area is another important thing or the roads leading in and out. They do this because they charge tolls or for the use of the service and payment can come in a myriad of ways. It could be favors, food, guns, cash, gold, etc. So, it doesn't surprise me that fighting broke out in a usually calm area… because a faction probably saw an opportunity to get something that gives them an advantage.
