The Facebook page of Anton Gerashchenko, adviser to the Ukrainian interior ministry, claims that a Malaysia-bound civilian aircraft was "Shot down" Over Ukraine by "Terrorists" Operating a Buk surface-to-air missile system.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on his website: "We do not exclude that the plane was shot down and confirm that the Ukraine Armed Forces did not fire at any targets in the sky." Gerashchenko's post says that 280 passengers and 15 crew members were killed. Ref. CNN

The U.S. Has concluded Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was shot down, a senior U.S. Official tells CNN's Barbara Starr.

The Malaysia Airlines 777, carrying 295 people, went down near the town of Torez in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, according to a Facebook post from a top Ukrainian official. The jet was at an altitude of about 33,000 feet en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. Ref. CNN

The missile that hit Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 most likely was fired by pro-Russia separatists inside eastern Ukraine, a preliminary classified U.S. Intelligence analysis concluded, a U.S. Defense official with direct access to the latest information tells CNN's Barbara Starr.

The official declined to be identified due to the sensitivity of the information.

Earlier, a senior U.S. Official said the United States concluded that a missile shot down the plane.

All 298 people aboard the Boeing 777 were killed when the plane was brought down over Ukraine on Thursday. Ref. CNN

Interesting that this happens right after the Malaysian Airliner Crash. For sure now, we know that someone in the Eastern Ukraine has the capabilities and will use it. This is escalating to a degree that I doubt there will be a return to peace anytime soon.
