The Flood

Konq, I would refer you to Luke 8:10.

QUOTE
Seeing they may not see, And hearing they may not understand

I don't believe the Bible is a History book. Fore example I don't believe the Earth was covered in water for 40 days, there is not enough water on Earth or below it and if there was the air would be so saturated we would all drown by breathing.

I do believe the Bible's meaning is true.

As far as the nature of God he is infinite in wisdom no one ever said he was nice.

Offtopic but,
Konq, what do you believe is eternal?

I read a theory once that the "flood" was a local flood that covered the earth as far as Noah could see.

I believe the stories in the Old Testament were "living" history passed verbally from father to son for generations. I believe the stories were based on fact, but battles, years lived, and floods grew larger in numbers with each retelling.

mousetrails,

There is an interesting theory involving the Black Sea that you may be interested in. The Black and the Mediterranean Sea were one separated and the Black Sea was a much lower fresh water lake with communities living around the river deltas. The Mediterranean broke through the narrow land bridge and the result was a huge flood destroying civilizations about 7 thousand years ago.

Thanks Pockettape. I finally remembered seeing that in an old copy of Biblical Archeology Review. Flooding the whole world with water would be hard to comprehend, but I could "buy" a local flood like that floating Noah's boat.

Since Mousetrails did not heed my message, posts dealing with the flood have been moved to its' own Thread.
