In this Thread: Worst Personal Financial Move 2006 you said;
QUOTE (Valla)
...shift offered would have prevented me from ever seeing my family

I would not call this a 'Worst' Financial move since your family should come first unless you needed the money because you were going to be evicted I do not see how giving time to a job can be better than spending quality time with your family.

Life is so short and in the end we will not look at $4.00 earned, but at time that was lost that could of been spent with those we love. Being at home prevents many things as well for both you and others. Your presence can eliminate: loneliness, unfaithfulness, insecurity, emotional distress or depression, chaos, etc. Sorry for preaching.

Well, that's exactly why I didn't take the job. And I know you're right because when I am working a lot of nights it does effect my family in some of the ways you've described. I don't have any young children but that doesn't mean that I shouldn't spend the few spare free hours a day my husband has, with him. It's good to be reminded of these things when I start thinking about how beneficial the extra income would have been. Thanks! smile.gif

Valla Introduction - Page 13

Hi Paintingblue, thanks for introducing yourself. You have twins? Wow, that's very challenging. I am married to a twin and he is still challenging. laugh.gif I only have an 18 year old so I could easily work full time but it was the shift choice that bothered me, I would have been working evenings which is when my husband and daughter are home. I turned the shift down hoping they would offer me another shift which they haven't yet, but maybe they still will sometime down the road. I figure if I try to make the right choices the Lord will provide. At least I have a choice, which I am grateful for. A lot of women don't, and have to work outside the home. As compassionate assistant in your ward, I'm sure you are familiar with the troubles so many people have.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, LDS. I figure I did make the right decision but like all hard decisions, something has to be sacrificed. It's always been hard for me to sacrifice money, which is probably why I'm always asked to! Ah well, when I can easily turn down an extra buck for what is most important, then I'll probably have all the money I need.

Yes for sure my twins are very challangeing they feed of each other a lot. Drives me a bit crazy. They are good kids though, but I do need to spend more time with them. Hence the reason I am quitting my job.
I have come to realise that time spent with your family is very precious. We will not always have that time ,so we need to make the most of it now.

I do appreciate that I can stay home, for their are a lot of single mothers in my ward who have to work. I admire them so because somet of them are very active in church.
