Seektruther Introduction

I'm a 20 year old college student. I'm not LDS, but I'm very curious about the faith. For spring break (this last week), I went to Salt Lake City with some other people from my college to see Temple Square and learn more about the faith. We learned a lot, but there were some questions that I asked to multiple missionaries that they didn't know the answer to.

First of all, I'd like to clear up a misconception I heard about. Like I said, I'm not LDS. I don't believe one can lose ones salvation. That doesn't mean I lie, steal, sleep around, ect. just because I believe I won't lose my salvation. Just like I don't do mean things to people because I love them, I try not to sin (something mean to Christ) because I love Him. Most of my Christian friends are the same way. I'm fully aware that there are some people who call themselves Christians, but don't act like it. I'm sure there are also people who call themselves LDS, but don't act like it.

I will ask some questions in other threads. I hope we can have friendly disscussion about them.

This is my first post on this forum. In fact, this is my first LDS forum. I wanted to have the name "truthseeker", but it said the name was already taken, that's how I got "seektruther". Sorry if it's a common name type.

Ah okay, well now you know why you could not have that name, and good thing, because if you did then you surely would have been deleted. Now another thing - this is NOT and LDS forum. In any place upon joining did you see it say that this was an LDS forum? This is an International Community. Now, if you wish to ask questions about LDS / Mormons then you need to go to the "Studies of Latter-Day Saints" Board located here:

I searched "LDS forum" on google.com and this was one of the hits. I saw that "Studies of Latter-Day Saints" area and am planning on posting in there soon.

EDIT: I just put my birthday in my profile, but it says I'm 2 years older than I actually am. It doesn't matter, I just thought it was weird.

You will find that this is an intellectual based Community and so it does take reading to understand everything. For instance... it would have explained why your age shows that way in your profile, in the same field where you filled in your age. Next, a search in Google will only reveal an aspect of this Community, had you searched for "Medieval RPG Forum" you may have then thought that this Forum is all about Medieval. Again, please take your time, this Community is unlike others that you may have visited.

I read this and wanted to make just a brief comment yet I did not want my complete off topic to sit in the studies of boards so I brought it to you.

You are exactly correct, this is unlike EVERY other forum out there. For this reason we have a collection of constructive topics. Latina suggested that you read our constructive posting policy as the first reply to your introduction here and I strongly recommend this. This will prevent any need for future apologies concerning the forum policies and or procedures. Our Admin has dedicated much time and effort to ensure that our resources are there for the benefit of everyone. Also if you have any questions on policy that you are unable to find an answer for within the FAQ or other resources feel free to ask them here and we will be more than happy to help as best possible to prevent any problems within the boards.
