Luke8709 Introduction

Hey! Luke here, heralding from Northern Virginia (and occassionally Logan, Utah), and just setting up an introduction for myself. Where to begin..? I'm passionate about so many things in my life: religion, politics, social activities, etc. I am a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but am far from your "standard-fare Mormon." More often than not, Mormons give themselves an air of superiority, one of "I'm better than you because I have the truth" but I see that as unneccessary, and most certainly un-Christlike. I do my best to keep an open mind, but being human, I do slip up at times. I go out of my way to read the newest "Anti-Mormon" material, which any well rounded LDS member knows isn't always so "Anti" but is a lot of the time the truth. By doing so, I've got a vast knowledge of the evolution of Mormon doctrine (which is striking) as well as the hierarchical evolution of its history and administration. Feel free to exploit me for my knowledge (just joking, of course...there is still a lot I have yet to learn!).

I'm a huge equal-rights activist. I can often be found at political rallies, most often at those for equal rights for homosexuals. I consider myself a Libertarian Socialist, and as such try my hardest to make my voice and viewpoint known to the largely conservative world. I see the current government as failing the people (whatever happened to government of the people, by the people, and for the people?) and as such, a couple of reformations wouldn't hurt.

I go to Utah State University, and am double majoring in psychology and social work. I consider a job concerned with helping people liberate themselves and live life to the fullest to be the ultimate form of charity, and can only hope that through my learning, someday I will be able to help others. I plan to head off to the University of Utah after obtaining my bachelor's degrees to pursue a master's in neuropsychology, as that has always been my true passion (USU doesn't offer it unfortunently...) I'm big on working out, and love the outdoors. Being from Northern Virginia never really yielded the type of outdoor type of guy I am now...we don't have mountains, everything is basically flat, etc. Being in Utah has opened me up: I love the mountains, hiking, cayaking...basically anything out in the fresh air!
