OK, after reading the article, I understand the principle of it, but not the practice. In all honesty, allot of these people are homeless due to alchohalism. Their reliance on alchohal put them in this position, and giving them that vice again seems like a bad idea in the long run.
I'm in AA and working the 12 steps. From what I'm learning in AA this doesn't seem to me it would work in the long run. I believe the Big Book states there are some people who from mental illness or character defect are unable to be honest with themselves. Maybe such unfortunates should be maintained. I honestly don't know.
