The Boston Celtics is one of the most storied franchises in NBA history. With 16 NBA titles in hand, the Celtics were a power house in the late 50's and most of the 60's. Legendary names such as Bill Russell, Red Auerbach, John Havlicek, Kevin McHale and Larry Bird passed through its history. Today, the Celtics are just another NBA team struggling year in and year out to make the playoffs, and haven't been to a Conference Championship series since 1987. Paul Pierce is probably the best known player currently on the team, and with a 32-48 record, the postseason has eluded the team this year. With new additions Wally Szczerbiak, Michael Olowakandi and Delonte West, will the Celtics return to dominance, or are they doomed?
The Celtics have had descent players, just no real dominant players since Larry Bird. They had the player who died, but who wants to play for a team that is remembered by that in the last ten years? Boston has a long glorious career, but don't look to be doing much to bring back that mystery and power.
