About a year ago, there was an incident in the city I live in, where a police officer reached for his stun gun to subdue an unruly person he was arresting. He mistakenly pulled his real gun, and shot the guy. The man survived and sued the city and won the lawsuit. This lead to stricter regulations against police and stun gun use in the city.
Personally, I don't have a problem with law enforcement using stun guns, so long as they are used properly and with good justification. I can see why the public may have reservations about this, but the police force need all the help they can in combatting criminals and doing their jobs.
