Greetings:
My name is Jo, and I'm a student at George Mason University in Virginia, USA. I am enrolled in a folklore course and am writing an ethnological paper about the "black cake" of Trinidad, its history, and its tradition. One of my coworkers (I also work at George Mason University) is from Trinidad and I have interviewed her but I am looking for additional information. Since her family has never written down their recipe for black cake, she does not have one to share with me (she is not a baker and does not know the recipe). I am hoping that someone will share their recipe with me - I would like to include it in my paper and I would also like to make it myself. I understand that the fruit will need to soak for many months and would like to serve it for Christmas.
This subject of my paper has sparked an interest in the culture, tradition, and foodways of Trinidad and I look forward to receiving whatever information you will share with me.
Thank you all in advance!
Best,
Jo Burton
