Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays is the only team left that heralds from Canada, after the Expos were relocated to Washington, DC. Their short history includes 2 World Series titles in 1992 and 1993. Interestingly enough, that was also the last time they went to a playoff series. They are in the AL East division which boasts super powers Yankees and Red Sox and a tough team in Baltimore. They've strengthened their lineup this year with additions Troy Glaus and Lyle Overbay and behind strong pitching from perennial Cy Young contender Roy Halladay, the Blue Jays hope to revisit the playoffs this year. Currently they sit in 3rd place with a 9-7 record.

My second favorite player of all time, and all time home run leader for the Blue Jays is Joe Carter. I got to meet him when I was younger, and he seemed bigger than life to me. Since he lived in my area (Kansas City area), I got to meet him at several charity events. He brought a lot of class to the Blue Jays and was really only one in a long line of great Blue Jay players from the nineties.

Here's a shocker. Alex Rios, Right Fielder for the Toronto Blue Jays, is currently leading the league in batting! He currently has a season average of .374 with 7 HR's and 24 RBI's. Vernon Wells is also having a good year batting .356 with 9 HR's and 28 RBI's. The Blue Jays find themselves only 2 games out of 1st behind the Yankees and Red Sox who are tied.
