Last I heard is in the cities of Detroit or Philadelphia. The heart of both cities have crime rates that are not very good to the average person. These are places I would try to avoid if I was able to.

2) East St. Louis: ESTL, IL has to be right up there on any "US Dangerous Place" list. The "citizens" of ESTL had worked hard to turn their city into an urban war zone. Let's all recognize their "achievements"

3) Downtown Detroit, MI

4) Southside Chicago, IL

Those lists are made based on a wide range of things like car accidents, pollution, and statistics. I think it's interesting to see what cities show up on lists about crime and safety in the states. Sometimes you see a town you have never heard of or that you would never suspect of having much crime. I know South Dallas and Oak Cliff are pretty dangerous areas in Texas. In the 70s during desegregation many white families moved out of Oak Cliff and the area became mostly low income housing and was housing disadvantaged families. Many businesses moved out and funding was removed from the area.
Dallas over all is known for high murder and crime.
