We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. |
I dearly wish that "insure domestic tranquility" applied more liberally. It seems we are constantly at battle with someone, somewhere. We have more battles on our own homefront that may not be "as glamorous" or something as going to war, but we are still nowhere near "tranquil" on issues such as the malnutrition of children, the senseless killings that occur hourly, and the amount of violence that occurs in American households on a daily basis. America's founding fathers had the right idea, I just think it's been corrupted since then.
