Consultation Fees are usually associated with giving professional advice to a client. You are paid a fee, because it would not be right for someone to drain you of your knowledge for free and then profit from it. Do you charge Consultation Fees? Have you ever had to pay for Business Consultation?

I've paid for financial advise, which is a form of consulting. I've never charged someone for my consulting service. I can see that if one has the knowledge to achieve something, that they should charge for that. The problem arises when people charge whatever they feel for their services, and there basically is no regulation since the product being sold has no physical value.

I have paid for consultation as well as charged for it. I used to offer it free, but found that because information is power I was basically selling my self a raw deal by imparting information with nothing in return. A consultation fee lets me know that a client is interested in my services and not just my 'secrets'.
