Church New Beta Site
How do you like the proposed new site for the Church? See it in the test link below: https://www.beta.lds.org
It looks like it is a little lighter weight than the current one, which is nice. But what is especially nice is that it all fits on a single page of the browser. No scrolling! I think that not having to scroll is one of the most important features of an opening page. Simple, easy to use buttons make life much easier.
Now scrolling on content pages is no problem. When I go to read an informational document, I expect to scroll through the whole document, or at least through a chapter.
Anyway, I like it.
That is what I really like about it. A very simple opening screen, with good menus to get you where you want to go can make navigation much easier.
With the old site, all the menu items are in the same place. Since the page is cluttered, I always have to spend more time looking at each item. By putting the menu items into drop down lists, with the choices categorized, I find it much easier to find what I want.
Offtopic but, I guess I should have said minimal scrolling. Both of the computers that I use are laptops, set to 1024x768. The opening screen only has 1/2 a page or less below the full screen, and none of the choices for the site are at the bottom. That is what I meant by no scrolling. |
