Two Convicted Murderers Escape Upstate New York Prison
Both inmates — Richard Matt, 48, and David Sweat, 34 — are considered to be a danger to the public and should not be approached, the statement said.
Sweat was convicted of first-degree murder for killing a sheriff's deputy in 2002, and is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Matt was convicted of murder, kidnapping and robbery after he beat a man to death in 1997. He is serving a sentence of 25 years to life. Ref. Source 7l
