I do have a question. If a stun gun can cause fatal respiratory and cardiac complications, then why do police even use them? Wouldn't a tranquilizer dart be more effective?

A tranquilizer uses darts so if you are trying to shoot some one with a dart good odds you will miss. If it is a hand deployed device you might be better but more dangerous for police to use. Also how much do you place in the device? Medications always depend on body mass.

Tazers are only to be used when a person is out of control and is a threat to those around them. So rather then belting him with a billy the police shock the victim and they no longer are a danger to any one.

I think extreme discretion has to be used IE Is the person old or severely over weight or showing other signs that an electrical should will kill them. Perhaps it should be mandatory for the police to ask if they have a pacemaker. If the person refuses to answer then too bad for them a chance was given.

If you are creating such a sever disturbance as to cause the police to use this device then should we piety them to the extend of a bystander being hurt or killed?

When will be wrong mean you suffer the consequence of you choice? Albeit death seems steep for being drunk in the street.
