Searching for alternatives
Over past few weeks, there's been quite an uproar over Google and changes to its search services and the privacy policies governing how and where the company can use your data. I have come up with a list of search alternatives worth checking out for those who are fed up with Google, or just looking to try something new. I've rounded up my picks below, with brief descriptions of what you will - and won't - get out of the best of the rest. Ref. Source 2
There will be plenty of competitors all the time but anyone that I know who doesn't use Google will usually use Bing or Yahoo, they never use the smaller ones.
I have been using Bing for a couple of years now and I actually prefer it over Google for various reasons.
The results of Google are cluttered with social results which I really don't want.
Second I don't trust Google with my data, their services might be free but I feel that I'm paying for them in another way. Maybe I'm a bit paranoid and should take my meds.
I know there are some other searchengines which are actually pretty good, like duckduckgo and ixquick.
When I first started using Bing I ended up at google eventually, but that hasnt happened for me a couple years already. And when I do end up at Google I cant find it there either.
If you want to find out which of the three largest searchengines (Google, Bing or Yahoo) is better you can always try blind search.
