It is good to see some positive action by the Saudie government but what is Bush doing to force the car companies into producing more fuel efficient cars and retrofits for the cars that are on the road today? No hybrids are not helping much as they are not increasing the mileage of the vehicle significantly due to poor choices made by the engineering departments.

If sped limits are 100 kph and 80 kph do we need high horsepower that can get us there in 4 seconds no. Does you car car have a 6 or 7 speed transmission allowing for maximum efficiency on the high way no. Why are not laws being pushed into place to mandate this so that the manufactures can produce them knowing the public will have to buy them.

A good example is a chev corsica in the late 90's they came in 3 and 4 speed automatic transmissions. The 4 speed increased fuel efficiency buy 30% or more if you drove almost highway all the time. Same motor same options. You have to ask why did they stop making them.
