Consider the following scripture in the Bible that describes how Judah slept with and impregnated his daughter in law and what he decided to do with her after:

"And he* turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.) And she said, What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me?

"¦And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt" (Genesis 38:16, 40).

Ah. But let's tell the whole story. What is written is taken out of context.

Thamar's first husband, Her, was wicked, so God killed him. Her's father told his brother Onan to perform your duty as brother-in-law. Onan ... wasted his seed on the ground, so God killed him also. The father of these men promised Thamar another husband as soon as his youngest son grew up. This promise was forgotten, so Thamar played a little trick. She put off her widows garments, put on a veil, wrapped herself up and sat by the gateway of Enaim on the road to Thamna; for she was aware that Sela had grown up, yet she had not been given to him in marriage. When Juda saw her, he thought she was a harlot; for she had covered her face. He went over to her at the roadside and said, "Come, let me have intercourse with you," not knowing that she was his daughter-in-law. She asked,"What will you give me to have intercourse with me?" About three months later Juda was told, "Your daughter-in-law, Thamar, has played the harlot and is pregnant as a result." Juda said, "Bring her to be burned." (Genesis 38:14)

It was all right for him to forget his promise, then proposition her at the side of the road. It wasn't all right for her to be the other half of his affair. But she had kept his signet, cord, and staff, so he decided it might be a little embarrassing to push the matter any further and dropped the charge. What is sauce for the goose is not always sauce for the gander.
