Child Molester Gets Probation Only
MAN'S SHORT SIZE LEADS TO LIGHTER SENTENCE
A judge in Nebraska sentenced a convicted child molester to probation instead of prison, saying she believed the man's short stature would cause him harm in prison.

Uh, Hello! Child Molester!
Don't care about how short he is, and I very much hope he gets harmed in prison! If he didn't want to get hurt in prison, perhaps he shouldn't have hurt children in the free world! This judge is pathetic and deplorable for letting a child molester of easy, this is baloney!
I can't believe the reasoning this judge used. She herself admits that the man's crimes deserve a 10-year prison term. To use his stature as an excuse not to send him to prison is an absurdity of justice.

Agreed, I believe that the twelve year old girl/victim in this case is shorter than him, what about her? I frankly could care less if a 50 year old man who molests a twelve year old girl gets harmed in prison. As far as I'm concerned, he should have thought about that before he couldn't keep his fingers to himself.
Pathetic. That Judge should not be a Judge just for making such a stupid ruling. I hope a full investigation takes place and the Judge gets the punishment that she deserves.

What sort of message does this send to all potential criminals out there. If you are short enough you can get away with such disgusting crimes. I honestly cannot believe this ruling. And what on earth is the National Organization of Short Statured Adults? Is there really a lobby good for short people? What next!

Now I am not defending the guy, however, I do not believe putting the guy intentionally in harms way is correct. One crime does not warrant other crimes. Yes, his act is terrible and this is how I would deal with it... lock him up and if he is attacked (which is most likely) then give him a choice of solitary confinement or to stay with the regular inmates. This would be a cure for both situations:
1. He remains behind bars
2. He is not met with unnecessary punishment
Offtopic but, I say this because prison rape can be brutal and happen many times over years. See this Thread; Sex Or Rape Or Nothing? (Requires Mature Status), at some time one's punishment must have an end. |
