John Travolta, born 18 Feb 1954, was first made famous for his role as Vinny Barbarino in the 70's show "Welcome Back Kotter". He then starred in the blockbuster "Saturday Night Fever" but languished in his career until it was revived in his 'Pulp Fiction" role in 1994. Since then he has gone on to make many films, such as:
White Man's Burden (1995)
Get Shorty (1995)
Broken Arrow (1996)
Phenomenon (1996)
Michael (1996)
Face Off (1997)
The Generals Daughter (1999)
Swordfish (2001)
The Punisher (2004)
Ladder 49 (2004)
Be Cool (2005)

An interesting fact about John Travolta is that he took dancing lessons from Fred Kelly (Gene Kelly's brother) from age six. He is also married to actress Kelly Preston. See more about these and other facts at:

He is an excellent actor and really the example of what star material is and can be. My only sad point for him was his role in 'Battlefield Earth' - I do not know what he was thinking there, but it was horrible. On another note he loves planes (has his commercial license too) and you should see his specially designed jet that he flys himself!
The Travoltas are going through a very hard time. Their 16 years old son (who is autistic) hit his head on a bathtub in the Bahamas where they were vacationing and he died.
Interesting enough about this child with autism. Most journalist and editors who know him well clearly state the child is disable and autistic but the Travoltas say there is absolutely nothing wrong with the child but the fact he had a heart condition only. Those who met the child say otherwise. But if we want to understand why the Travoltas deny these things is because Scientology believes mental illnesses are a "weakness" that should be overcome WITHOUT medical intervention so I guess if they admit the kid was autistic and he was not receiving the proper medical help he needed, they would get so much pressure from every possible angle.
You always see the Travoltas with their youngest daughter (8) but hardly you see pics with their son.
Very sad situation for everyone involved.
John Travolta testified on a Bahamas trial (some people are charged with extortion) and he actually admitted (after all these years) that his son was autistic.
It is rumored that Scientology may soon lose one of his faithful followers: John Travolta. His admittance on court that his son was in fact autistic it seems to be a clear sign that he may soon leave the organization. As we all know, Scientology does not believe in drugs to cure illnesses. In the past, he mentioned that his son had Kawasaki disease, a rare condition that causes arterial inflammation (autism is not recognized in their church). Back in July, he denied reports claiming he was abandoning Scientology following the death of his son but now, he's keeping quiet and refuses to comment on his relationship with the church.
