NFL's new safety net failed to catch Belcher


An NFL crisis hotline, a bolstered mental-health program and a fresh message encouraging troubled players to seek help did not prevent the murder-suicide involving Jovan Belcher, the Kansas City Chiefs linebacker. Belcher, 25, shot his girlfriend and then killed himself.
