Are Chinese students cheating by phone?

BEIJING - China will scramble mobile phone signals in some exam halls and have police stand guard in a bid to stop cheating as millions of students take the highly competitive college entrance exams this month, state media said Friday.

I can't say that I have ever heard of cheating in this fashion. But I suppose if its really as competitive as they are making it out to be that some people will do anything to stand out above the crowd and get into the good colleges. Though if I was in charge, I wouldn't have thought to scramble cell phone signals none the less have armed guards standing by, thats rather fierce.

I have seen this in Argentina and here in Trinidad (there is a fever for cel phones here, every person has at least two cel phones). As a teacher and student I have seen how students cheat using their mobile phones and I have always wonder why there were not in existence strict measures to stop from happening.
