This New Zealand airport doesn't have even minimal air traffic control. No wonder it's dangerous.

QUOTE
Civil Aviation Authority director John Jones said at the time the service would not be cost effective.
The claim by the airport is that safety requirement are adequate without air traffic control, but it seems to me that this is a disaster waiting to happen.

Name: Anthony

Comments: Three people already died near Taupo Airport because there was a lack of proper controlled approach! That could have easily have been prevented if there was a control tower. Also we are talking about 11 chartered flights everyday not even Dunedin has that much.

I believe this would be a lot safer if they put in a control tower. Even if it is run during day light hours only it should be better and safer all around.
