After the purchase of a home how long is the minimum amount of time before it could be sold without huge loss of investment? After only about a year in our home we have talked about selling but I am unsure if it would be worth putting on the market. Market value is up but even then with payoff being what it is I am torn.
How long should you own a home before attempting to resale? (Average)

Generally, your target is a 20 to 30% spread between your costs of buying a new home (purchase price, fees, points, and other related expenses, such as repairs) and your resale price. It's not necessarily about time, although I seem to remember something about a 5-year rule on primary residences.
Also, you will have to pay taxes on your capital gains unless you opt for a 1031 exchange. (Talk to a real estate agent and your tax accountant about this process.)
