Sathya Sai Baba
What do you know of Sathya Sai Baba? Do you feel he has divine powers, is Sathya Sai Baba truly sent by God? Consider the following statements from a former devotee:
The words from that former devotee seem very harsh and if they are factual it would make Sai Baba just another money grabber using religion as the tool. However, I am never one to listen to a 'former' member of something. In every religion there are always those that seek to find fault and label terrible crimes on religious leaders, so I would need to see serious proof before I even can begin to entertain the idea that a man of his religious popularity would indulge in such acts.
The man has a decent-sized following in some pockets of Southern India and some international circles.
However, I am loath to even think about considering that he has divine powers.
Throughout the last 4500-odd year history of Hinduism, there is one consistent binding "attitude" which all Hindu texts, epics inculcate and which Hindus follow to this day: that descriptions of divinity are nothing but allegories to real-life philosophy.
I'll give an example to illustrate this: The Bhagvad Gita was written thousands of years ago and to this day is the most read and most sacred text of the Hindus. It is, in essence a treaty on the 'mind' of the perfect warrior and is set during a civil war. It could be construed to be a treaty of war, but for an all-important pervading theme throughout the text: that the "perfect warrior" isn't someone who actually goes around shedding blood; he is someone like you and me and the discourse is essentially how to fight through the battles that life throws at each and every one of us.
Every Hindu knows this and it is something not allways apparent to anyone not born and brought up in the mythos of India.
When Hindus hear of a man walking on water, they shrug their shoulders in disbeleif or just laugh it off.
Why ? Because any "divine" person wouldn't actually perform super-human feats. He would 'show' his divinity through words.
That is the reason why Hindus beleive Buddha to be God.
Actions merely exist in books and are nothing but allegories of the truth. Miracles which happen in real life are taken with a pinch of salt.
There ARE Hindus who follow Sai Baba, but they are so miniscule as to not even count in the significant figures as far as the population goes. Maybe a few thousand out of a billion people.
