'HUSH-HUSH' SUICIDE REPORTING DOESN'T WORK

I would have to agree with the coroner's perspective. Suicide is not something that should be swept under the carpet because it is a bad reflection of one's society. Instead it should be used to address issues that may contribute to the high rate of suicide that is being witnessed. I have never agreed with hiding negative situations from the public eye for the sake of 'saving face'.
In my town, we have a very large medical facility, and unfortunately, they run the media here. To prevent bad publicity, they will usually hide bad incidents from being leaked by the media, and this portrays things to be better than they really are. As for suicide, it is a very serious social issue, and should be addressed by the local government, especially if the numbers are far worse than other countries.
Suicide is not just something you can just toss out the window and expect everyone to just drop because someone else doesn't think it's a big deal. Suicide is a big deal if four out of six killed themselves I would want to know. I also would want to know if New Zealand has the highest suicide rate also.
