I wouldn't class this as fairness, if you screw up, then the only person who should be held accountable is yourself, after all, nobody else made the mistake for you!

Unfortunately though, there are plenty of people around who do actually hold the opinion that everyone should take the blame for one person's mistakes. In my opinion, they are just of weak character.

I guess the individual who screwed up is seeing this as fair because they are not the only ones who will share in the blame. But, I agree with Diane. Be accountable for your own mistakes. That is what fairness is about.
