Not sure backbiting is the converse of Honesty. Certainly it is a subset of Dishonesty. I think the definition of honesty, outside of the financial ones that can be quantified, is a flexible one.

If asked, would you tell someone they are ugly, if they were? Even dodging the question with round about answers, might be dishonest.

But I do agree that Honesty should be more practiced today.

If I don't want to tell someone they're ugly it might not be dishonest to use other words or focus on the good parts. Not every question deserves an answer.
