The Nakedness of Noah
There are two items to be Discussed here:
1. Why was Noah to the point of being drunken? Is this correct of a Prophet?
2. Why would Ham, seeing his father naked, cause a curse to come over Canaan? Do not most human children see their parent naked at one point or the other?
"And Noah began to be a husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: and he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent, And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. . . . And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him, and he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren" (Genesis 9:20-25).
You have to read all of the scripture to understand what happened.
QUOTE |
20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded [a] to plant a vineyard. 21 When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father's nakedness. |
