For such a small % of the world population they sure do seam to be involved in some of the worlds most disturbing activities.
They don't treat the Palestinians very well. They hate the Arabs with a blood lust, yet they complain when anyone says even the slightest thing about them or what they are doing. If you disagree with them murdering and torturing palestinians you are labeled as anti-semitic. They have an elitist mindset. They are heavily involved in corrupt banking. They are heavily involved in the porn industry. They are heavily involved in brothels (this really ticks locals off, especially when it is their young daughters that get involved). They own media that is really one sided.
On the other hand. I believe that they are some of the most intelligent and talented people in the world. There is a long list of scientific achievements from jewish people. We also have to take into consideration that Jesus was jewish. There have been some great jewish people.
Because they are already hated they become easy targets for fascists to use as a "common enemy". I would like to think that if they tried to to round up the jews here for execution, then I might have something to say about that. But people also have to admit that a lot of the things they are doing right now are clearly wrong.
Practically every country in the world hates jews. They are hated 30 times more than Americans and hundreds of more times than other groups. This is very odd. People don't understand why we back jews so much here. We back the jews if they are right or wrong. And that is probably the only reason that they are still alive.

Comments: I am studying roman history in school. As I once thought it was the Jews who killed Jesus, I found myself to be wrong. I know know, as you should too, that Jesus was persecuted for going against the roman government. Jesus was thought to be as a threat to the roman government. head officials thought that Jesus could start an uprising. His teachings were quickly banned and made illegal. when he would not stop he was sentenced death by the roman leader Potius Pilate. He was not Jewish, nor was anyone else that sentenced Jesus to his death. Rome's state religion was not even Judaism, it was of polytheistic ideas. Anyway the population of Jewish people was very small at that time period. So peoples idea that the jews killed jesus is wrong. this gives no reason for the Jews to be persecuted. Anyway Christ's ideas only caught on after his death. the roman emperor, Constantine became christian and then another emperor, Thedosius made Christianity the official religion of Rome. I too have a very nice living and understanding of ancient history. So I to agree saying the Jews killed Jesus is wrong, and to some degree saying it without the proper facts makes you uneducated.

Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it... There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors. |

dbacker we have 2 completely different ways of looking at things. I don't think that we should be involved with israel and helping them any longer to spread their influence threw the arab countries by force.

The Palestinians are actually the main obstacle in the peace movement. Israel is not the ones who have stated that they want the other side destroyed. Israelis as a population do not hate Arabs. They fear them because of the many "religious" fatwas declaring that Israel as well as Jews need to be killed and should be shown no mercy. The Jewish religion does not have equivalent decrees for the destruction of muslims. |

Rather off topic, but... We share the same religion. I would suggest that you read Ezek: 38-39. we ar not a blessed people anymore. |
Rather off topic, but... On a side note, dbacker. I think you are completely wrong in this area, but you are a man of your conviction and you ar consistent... I look forward to bashing you in the future though. I do wish you would at least try to take a different angle on this. For arguments sake. |
I am very interested to hear that Judea was not full of people practicing Judaism. Yes, Rome proper had few Jews, but I was always under the impression that Judea, which Pontius Pilate governed over at the time of Jesus' execution, was largely Jewish. As a matter of fact, I believe that in Roman history that they had wars with the Jews in Judea and that the Romans anointed certain Jews to a title called "King of the Jews". Well, since there were so few Jews as to my new understanding, these could hardly have been wars at all since there was virtually no one on the other side to fight and why have a "king" for such a small populous.
While not a anti-semite by any stretch of the imagination, please ask how Jesus ended up in Roman hands and while we are at it...ask yourself what a Sanhedrin is and what it had to do with Jesus. Was there a big Roman manhunt for Jesus? Perhaps it was Temple guards that apprehended Jesus? I cannot wait to see the evidence that this was a all out Roman effort to capture and punish Jesus of Nazareth for illegal teachings. Jean/Kristen, since you are currently studying Roman history, this should be at your fingertips and easy to source. Please do so, my education is lacking in this area. During my studies of this particular topic from the Roman side (basically, Pontius Pilate's records) I am also interested in when the Romans decided to go capture Jesus and who decided that he was a threat and when. I have always been under the impression through studying Roman history that Jesus was killed for Treason and not illegal teachings...who knew!
Me and a few other uneducated believe that Jesus was actually captured by the Temple Guards (we can review their motivation) and sentenced to blasphemy under the Sanhedrin (lead by Caiaphas, who interestingly was allowed the position by agreement with the Romans) and turned over to the Romans. In Mosaic Law, blasphemy is a charge punishable by death (usually stoning). However, since Judea was a satellite country under Roman control, they were not allowed to carry out these punishments and if needed would request them of the Roman Governor. That prefecture's governor was Pontius Pilate. He reviewed the case and since the charge was blasphemy (this didnt mean anything to the Roman government since they didnt believe in God either and it was a infraction of Jewish Law, which he could care less about) he did nothing and sent Jesus to be dealt with by Herod Antipas. Antipas is amused by Jesus, but that ends soon with beatings and he is sent back to Pilate. Pilate states that he sees no infraction requiring death. It is then that the leaders...Jewish Leaders...give Pilate the treason charge. This is all Pilate needs and the execution is on! Now, nowhere in there was a Roman manhunt to get Jesus. You will find nothing that says "his" teachings were illegal prior to his arrest because the Romans basically didnt know much about Jesus, fear Jesus nor particularly care about him as long as the tribute kept coming in from Judea and they accepted Roman Authority. By absolutely every account, he was handed over to the Romans by Jews.

Comments: I am writing as I found many comments quite interesting.... I am at the most not offended because I believe everyone has a right to their own opinion. I am a 23 year old Jewish woman living in Western Australia and am quite happy here due to being close to my family... on the other part I am quite scared to show I am Jewish at times as I do proudly wear my Star of David and have had things thrown at me, I have been abused in the shop, at the zoo, walking down the street. I would like to voice an opinion and ask that it is respected in the way that I respect everyone elses opinions. My view is this, in my Jewish community in Perth we are very close knit.
In some comments how we do not make the effort to allow others in, or join in with other communities is this... I have asked older people in my community about this and their response is... people of their generation still hurt from the holocaust. they are survivors. they find it hard to fit in as they were outcasts. they watched there families murdered for something they believed in. a whole 6 million. Some believe it will happen again. I myself only have my immediate family as many were lost in the holocaust, never to be seen again.
See I find it hard to believe we are hated because of Jesus, as it is so long ago. I myself did not play a part in it so therefore I don't understand why I should be hated for it.
At the same time, yes, in every culture, every religion there is a minority who do the wrong thing. but as every other culture or religion I don't see the point of hating the majority of a group by something a minority of the group do.
I have not got one problem with any one else no matter the colour of their skin, the G-d they believe in, or where they come from. so I do not understand why I should be hated because of mine. I once asked someone who was abusing me "why do you hate me when you don't know me." This woman then replied to me "because you stole my land." then the conversation led to me asking how I stole her land if I dont know her. her response was that because I am Jewish I am as bad as the Jews that stole their land.
I found this hard to take in as I did not know this woman, had never seen her in my life. But this is just an example as how easy it is for any one any where to judge some one on a different persons doing.
I am a nice person, I don't judge, I respect every single person for who they are. The thing I would like to ask of people is that they start doing the same. Dont hate someone because of their belief system or where they are from or the colour of their skin. Respect them for the person they are.
I would one day like to walk through my city and show that I am proud to be who I am with out being abused. Instead of judging others how about we all stop putting the blame on every one else and just get along.
Many times hate is a taught and learned reaction/feeling from our parents...and they from their parents, so you should probably expect reactions such as the ones you receive...wrongly as it is. I believe there are three reasons that the Jewish population is hated by some others: Jesus, Israel and Success. They dont have to hate you for all the reasons...any one will do. That is the nature of hate.
As I have laid out, Jewish leaders of the time had a hand in the persecution of Jesus. Romans did the dirty work, but there was support from Jewish leaders in this and that is why some mistakenly say that Jews killed Jesus. Jesus himself states that there is a "one" who bears the responsibility for his death. However, he dies for all of us, so would he have had it any other way? Who knows...but the fact is that all that are complicant in Jesus's death are long gone.
Israel. Coming out of the Palestine Mandate, a frame work for a dual state country was laid out by the Brits and voted on by the UN. It was basically what was in force at the time, but the jews would have representation guaranteed in teh government. Unfortunately, it had little (actually no) support from the Palestinians. As soon as the mandate ended, Palestine rejected the resolution and Israel proclaimed its own statehood. It was a royal mess in the greatest sense of the word. I think England was just tired of war and wanted the troops to go home. Anyway, the resulting war basically concluded with the loss of some land to Jordan, Egypt (not sure about Syria) and the Palestinians lost everything. What bothers me about this is if their Arab brothers were so concerned...couldnt they have given the land that they took out of the war to the Palestinians? Sure, but they didnt...they kept it and complained that the Palestinians should be freed to take back their land as if nothing happened. Today, they could allow Palestinians to enter their country...but they dont. Palestinians had a opportunity to gain back their own state...sections of Jeruselum...but it isnt enough...the would rather stay martars. Of course, this is the framework for the next war with the Arab states that ends up in Israel growing in size. It will also be the framework for the next war there...
So it is about stealing land...
Well who stole it first? How far back do we go? Lots of Jews there at the First Temple. Romans stole it from them. I cannot answer those questions, but I can answer this...
Would there be any Jews left if Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Palestine had won the first war following the resolution of the Palestinian Mandate? Would we be able to talk to a Israeli Jew? I DONT THINK SO and even my Jordanian friend admits it. We can still talk to Palestinians.
Today, this is probably the biggest area of contention and driver of anti-semitism.
The other area is success. The closed knit successful communities whose families focus on education and ensuring the next generation has a better standard generate animosity...and sometimes hate. Jews come into a area and make it where others arent as creative and they are hated for it. S. Korean in Los Angeles feel the same thing. Closed knit communities that support each other and succeed where the lazy or less creative fail. The result is that you are stealing their jobs...their businesses that they couldnt make work.
None of this is right...but it is the way it is...you just need to be aware of it and change it where you can.
