Why Do People Use / Consume Bad Things?
Why Do People Use Drugs when they know it is bad for their bodies?
People mostly use drugs to feel the euphoria they get from it and most start from peer pressure and the rest are from born addictions or some type of pain, like an inner emptiness or a broken leg or the like. I have never been addicted to anything and I don't see why they can't just quit.
Drugs can soothe away the pains of life, get you in with the right crowd, and take you on an adventure like you have never had before. But most people who take them start when they are young and not mature or smart enough to weigh the benefit versus the negative effects. Drugs like weed were fun when I was younger, but I'm smart enough to know to stay away from it.
Many reasons. Peer or societal pressure and encouragement, family modeling, because it feels good (initially at least), and to forget or mask emotional problems and stresses. Some also take 'drugs' for medicinal purposes then become addicted. Once addicted they take it because they have to to keep from going though withdrawls either mentally or physically.
Social pressure, mainly, specially when young. And amusement. I believe that very few consumers started using drugs as a mean of overcoming physical or mental pain. People tend to underestimate the risks, also because in the beginning you can actually control the drug. But things change very quickly, and when they realize, or admit, that they lost control is often too late.
