Can Vegans Become Fat?

Comments:I always thought that because someone was vegan that they'd be very thin because of the lack of dairy and meats from their diet but I met someone today that is really big and I'm wondering how that can be?
Vegans can become fat because in the end no mater if you are a vegan or meat eater a calorie is a calorie and if you eat too many calories you can get fat. This is even more true if you live a laid back life without any exerrcise. You also have to consider that vegans can eat sugar and fats both of which can put weight on you very quickly. Flour can be another contributor for instance eating bread with peanut butter and jelly or donuts, etc.
Clara hit the nail on the head. Just because you are Vegan, does not speak of how you eat, some when they go Vegan, drop the meat and etc and just replace it with more processed junk food.
Normally if you eat whole foods and a variety of fruits, veggies and whole grains, weight will come off and health issues I'll go away or become more manageable, depending on how much damage you caused your body, before you made the life change.
Sometime there are hereditary complications and body damage factors in play. And your body will only cleanse and heal as it can handle it, it will not put your life in open jeopardy, change can take decades in worst cases.
But as was stated by Clara, if you eat enough of the wrong foods, you can get fat. When you become Vegan, you need to eat wiser and smarter. I have found as I have cleansed my body and eaten better, my body more readily tells me when I have eaten enough, and is repulsed by bad goods, they just no longer taste good. Our bodies know what is good for us, if we just feed right and learn to listen to it, it does not like to be in pain and misery, any more then we do.
We can also have intolerances, I am intolerant of all animal products and wheat I have finally come to see later in life; sure wish I had been able to deal with more completely years ago.
