Maybe but FIFA says they would take too much time out of the game. Can you imagine every team that interrupts the game every 5 minutes because they do not agree with the referee's decision?

Yes, instant replay is not for a sport like football where continuous play is key. It is already bad enough the players stopping play with fouls and free kicks. If instant replay had to be initiated, the only time I would say it should be allowed is if there was question about whether a ball crossed the goal line or not. These occasions are rare, but when they occur, they could change the game if a goal was disallowed or vice versa.

I think instant replays can be made for penalty areas and in the case of sending players off since both of these are worth both the time and effort as it means the difference between losing and winning.

Yes, it is a shame they do not use instant replays in the pen box, too many players dive and receive penalties, such as Steven Gerrad. It would slow the game down yes but it would also save a lot of violence after match.
