You are all missing the point, the argument stems from the idea that Jesus was both fully man and fully god and perfect, so could we also become perfect? Original sin only counts if your christianity believes in that, not all versions do, so the argument of no stems from this idea that we are compared to Jesus. But the real reason we cannot be perfect has nothing to do with "sin" but with your perception of perfection. What is perfection? Even if you want to say "Jesus is perfection", then how exactly did he act? You have a couple stories in the Bible to go by, Jesus has little to no personality in the scriptures to go by, a collection of stories and sayings. What was he like as a teenager? No no one knows, thus with no real definition of perfection, it varies from culture to culture, then no one can be considered perfect to everyone.
Do you ask if we are perfect in our eyes or in the way God would have us. To measure us properly one would need to know the purpose God had for each of us. Since my god is perfect, I would have to say we are as well.
God doesn't make mistakes. Just my thoughts on the subject.
Back the question can man be perfect as God is perfect. So this means can we behave just like God.
Given that through Christ's death the holy spirit (God or at least part of God) resides in us (if we open ourselves to it) as it was Jesus. Thus Yes I think we can be perfect as God is, but we must have a strong desire to be this way and consistently consult the spirit that dwells within.
Only problem is that as children we are not trained this way but instead to listen more to the fleshly desires thus making the path to perfection more difficult.

Comments: Yes! It's all about the relationship not the religion. It's what we all strive for. God says to be perfect because He is perfect. He called Abraham to be perfect: "Walk before Me and be thou perfect."
Jesus was one with The Father before the foundation of the world and even after He was made flesh and walked among us, He lived a perfect life without sin: [If not then there could be no atonement, nor could He have overcome the death brought on by sin if He was ever guilty of sin.] How did He accomplish this? Apart from His obvious Deity, He stayed in constant communion with The Father.
Look also at Enoch and Elijah: They were not deity, but mere men. Neither man suffered death, but went into the presence of God in righteousness. If they hadn't overcome sin and walked perfect in righteousness, they could not be in His presence. How was this possible? Their relationship was such that they commune with God 24/7/365.
This is the mark for which we are to shoot. We desire to be one with The Son and also The Father. We desire to attain perfection, not for our benefit or glory, but for His Righteousness and His Glory.
As long as we hold onto our self and our selfishness and not surrender every part of our being TO Him and FOR Him we may never establish the relationship even within the close proximity for the possibility of reaching the goal.
Many, like my own self, first came to call upon God because we wanted fire insurance and thought that the reward was heaven itself. As we've left the milk and found meat to be palatable in our maturity and relationship we came to see that we come not to Him for our own selves and motives but His.
Worthy is The lamb to receive the reward of His suffering. It's not about us; it's about Him. We are not our own, but have been bought with a price. We are the property of God; created for His good pleasure. Till we spend our every moment within that relationship with Him; so much so that we are always in His presence: Every waking moment and every sleeping moment; in consciousness and in our unconscious state; that we walk so closely with Him we sin not, but become like The One we desire with every part of our existence. Till we are there we will not be perfect. Even though we wash in the blood of Christ and claim His righteousness as our own; not by our works but His, if we continue in sin we have not attained perfection.
I"m not trying to allude that it is by our righteousness we gain life eternal, for our righteousness is but filthy rags. I am saying that, His Grace is sufficient and without His Grace we"d not even be considering a walk toward perfection as a desire to please Him. In and of ourselves we can do nothing; but, when we are in total communion with The One and Only Sovereign; righteousness is a byproduct of the relationship that extends beyond the bounds of time and self.
If perfection was possible to attain: Why then would He call us to it?

Yes I believe that man can become perfect in the eyes of god. IF we walk the path that he has set out for us then we are doing the work he has set before us and thus in his eyes we are perfect. The hardest part to all of this is trying to figure out what he has in mind for us.

Title: Can a man be perfect
Comments: Yes a man can be perfect. It says all through out the Bible to, "Be perfect, like your Father in heaven is perfect." If you are a believer in God and believe that God and Jesus were perfect, then you must also believe that neither would lie and claim that man can be perfect or set us up for failure. This perfection is spiritual and flawed in the ways that people believe. Just because a man can trip and fall and harm himself on accident, this is not a lack of perfection if his soul is clean. Perfection is achievable, that is the message that Jesus left behind.
