Being Christian is becoming more open ended every day. It seems to be more personal belief than securely based on any Doctrine. And when Doctrine is introduced, it is so widely disputed that no one can really say what is true or not.
In context with what, if anything, is wrong with being single, I would say it is more a frame of mind.
Single in relationship to marriage, means not being married. It does not mean however that you are alone. Supplement spouse with friends, good solid trustworthy friends, until a point in time where a marriage partner can be found in agreeance with your desire to be married.
Regular social interactions can be the best means to strengthening potential to find a spouse and get married. Remember that being alone is just as much a physical and mental state of mind as is being emotionally and socially alone.
While most Christian communities, ideologies, and philosophies encourage marriage, there has never been a time or place or age specified where it was absolutely mandated it must happen.

Comments: While there isn't anything wrong with being single and Christian if you're purposely delaying seeking a mate then I think there is something wrong with that. You might take awhile to find someone and no one should pressure you to do it but you shouldn't eliminate trying to date and look altogether.
