A Vatican cardinal said Thursday the faithful should listen to what secular modern science has to offer, warning that religion risks turning into "fundamentalism" if it ignores scientific reason.

That is a very bold statement and it makes you wonder why it would be said in the first place since it leaves a lot of room open now for interpretation by those looking for change.

It has always interested me that the Italians tell Americans how to worship God. Mousetrails will give you a whole new perspective on religion without trying to change who (Jesus) you worship. I personally have trouble with my religion because I absolutely do not believe in magic or things I can't touch, see, or hear the effects of.

I think that you need to learn to see religion in a worldwide sense, instead of just based on country... the catholic church isn't just for Italy or the United States of America!

I am very well aware that when the Pope sneezes the Catholic world grabs a handkerchief. So let me restate my position. It has always interested me that the Italians in Rome tell the world how to worship God.

Seriously, you need to try looking at life from a world perspective, in order to understand worldwide issues, such as worldwide religions!

Trinichick, I wrote a book that is based on the Old Testament of the Catholic Bible. Before I published that book I researched every religion around the world that I could find. I am very aware of the different world religions and their effect on human beings. You will find that the Catholic religion was written from the ideas of some man just exactly like all other religions. If you go back far enough you can find the name of the founder of each and every religion including yours. So I will say it again. It has always interested me that the Italians in Rome tell the Catholic world how to worship God.

This is very far from the topic at hand, Mouse... however, here we go again:

Offtopic but, I am not disputing whether or not you have researched other religions or the Old Testament. I wonder though, how much research you have put into the actual doctrine of the Catholic church you are a member of? The Church's physical "capital city" may be in Rome (hence the name Roman Catholic) however, the numerous Priests, Archbishops, Bishops, Cardinals and even the Pope are not all Italian - therefore I do not understand your reference to "Italians telling us Americans how to worship God". Would you suggest that I can't possibly know anything about catholicism, because I am from a small nation in the Caribbean? Or perhaps you would prefer another schism within the Church, to create a new religion you can call, "American Catholic"?
