A Connecticut judge today set bond for Kennedy relative Michael Skakel at $1.2 million, a move that could pave the way for his release.
Skakel, the nephew of Robert and Ethel Kennedy, has spent more than a decade in prison for the 1975 murder of Martha Moxley.
The bond hearing was held in Stamford and conducted by Superior Court Judge Gary White.
Appellate Court Judge Thomas Bishop overturned Skakel's conviction last month on grounds that he was poorly represented at his 2002 murder trial.
Moxley's body was found in 1975 after a night of partying with Skakel, his older brother Tommy and other teenagers in an affluent gated community in Greenwich, Connecticut. Authorities said she was bludgeoned and stabbed to death; a broken golf club was found near her body. Ref. CNN
