The mother of a teenager who brutally bashed a Christchurch bus driver says she is relieved her daughter is going to be locked in a youth prison.

Up Locked Teen Happy Mother

I don't think that the Mother is happy, as much as she sounds relieved that at last the pressure is being taken off her as a parent. It is generally thought that if you have a tearaway teenager, it's the parents fault, not so in all cases.
This case sounds like the Mother is at the end of her tether, and if she is a law abiding citizen, it would indeed be distressing to her to find that her daughter has assaulted someone, rightly so, it is a terrible waste of a young girls life to be incarcerated before she has spent much time as a young person.
