If nothing else I think it is great that they are able to verify their theoretical work is close to reality. It might help in the future to identify the atmosphere of less hostile planets as well.

Well this tells us that gas giants form faster and easier than the bulky smaller solid planets. I guess the fact that they are mostly layers of gases instead of other materials makes it easier to form. The planets like earth that have a solid form to them take more time to come together.
