Oskar (Thomas Horn) is convinced that his father (Tom Hanks), who died in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, has left a final message for him hidden somewhere in the city. Feeling disconnected from his grieving mother (Sandra Bullock) and driven by a relentlessly active mind that refuses to believe in things that can't be observed, Oskar begins searching New York City for the lock that fits a mysterious key he found in his father's closet. His journey through the five boroughs takes him beyond his own loss to a greater understanding of the observable world around him.

I enjoyed this movie especially because of the special needs character and his difficulties coping with reality. Thomas Horn who acts as Oskar Schell, a kid who lost his father in the 9/11 terror attack, also has some strong autistic traits... Perhaps Asperger's Syndrome. There are may moments in the film where we could relate to our oldest son and say to ourselves... Yep, we've experienced that. Thomas horn did an excellent job and outshines Hanks and Bullock.

I LOVED this movie. Thomas Horn (the actor who played the son of Tom Hanks) is extremely good at this role, VERY talented child taking into consideration that he hasn't done any major roles or has an extensive filmography.

I appreciate the movie because it helps to show how a child with special needs would cope with a tragedy such as the loss of their father. I wish though, the directors would have taken a little more care when the child mentions Aspergers Syndrome and instead called it "Aspergers Disease". I also thought it was bad and unrealistic when the child calls the guy that works in the apartment building the word "retard" which we know it's very offensive and he knowing his challenges wouldn't call someone else with that name. I thought it was unreal.

Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks acting were regular but definetely Thomas Horn carried that movie on his shoulders. Excellent film.
