Resurrected Body

Resurrected Body

Every time I get sick I think about my future Resurrected body. One of the interesting things about the perfect flesh that we will receive is that we will have no blood as we know it. Never heard of that? Where in the scriptures does it say that the blood will be restored? It says flesh and bones. One of the modern day prophets called our 'new blood' as a celestial fluid. Thinking about it makes me reflect on many things that we do now and if we will continue to do them and/or leave them because they are associated with a mortal body:

1. Using the toilet
2. Taking vitamins
3. Washing that sleepy look from off your face
4. Lots of meat?
5. Getting sweaty
6. Sleeping and dreaming?
7. Forgetful?
8. Drinking
9. Staying warm?
10. Liking a particular flavor

Well the list can go on. You can add to it and then say how you feel about the resurrection.

There is no blood in the resurrection because it is blood that makes us mortal.  Blood is what carries disease and sickness.  There is not one cause of death that is not influenced by blood.

Yes the blood carries all the properties of life as well as 'death'. What would be interesting to understand is how a transfigured body operates. We are made to understand that transfigured bodies are not necessarily resurrected but they exist in a state of prolonged life. Examples of this are John the Beloved and Elijah. Since Christ was the first resurrected being then Elijah would of had one of these 'prolonged' bodies until his own resurrection. Maybe they too had a special blood?

As for LDS_forever - that is an interesting one that I did not think of because I am a man *wink*, BUT it did make me think... will the process of child birth be the same? Nine months, etc?

Hmmmm that's an interesting one, although I'm not so sure we will be able to have children when our bodies are resurrected, at least, not in the traditional way...who knows...

That is an interesting question, however, a great example would be Jesus Christ.  When he visited his disciples after his resurection, he ate honeycomb.  My answer would be our bodies will function the same in the eternities as it did here in mortality.

Yes, true point. I should have mentioned that in my opening post. By the way... welcome to the forum.

I know this is an older topic, but I thought I could give one little thought. In Genesis 3:16, after Adam and Eve partake of the fruit, the Lord says to Eve: "...I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children;..." We know in a perfect state Adam and Eve could grow flowers instantly. I know flowers aren't the same as childbirth, and we also know that Adam and Eve probably would not have had children without falling, but that scripture makes you wonder what childbirth would be like in an immortal state. I'd imagine once you were pregnant, the child grew faster because of the immortality in the parents and the child, and would come out sooner becuase there would be no risks of losing the child, really, and no problem of breathing on his/her own, etc. My wife and I have little discussions about this because she is way against polygamy in heaven, so we talk about one Goddess bearing trillions of children, instead of sharing that responsibility with other women. We also talk about the other aspects of a polygamous relationship.
