Moscow is the world's most expensive city, and Toronto is also on the top 50 list thanks to the soaring Canadian dollar, according to a new survey.

City Expensive Most

I was surprised to hear Moscow was #1 on this list. I always thought of cities like Tokyo, Hong Kong, London and New York as the most expensive, but not Moscow. One day I hope to travel to Moscow, and now that it has been named most expensive to live, it has peeked my interest even more.

If I'd had to guess, I'd have gone for either Sydney or Hong Kong as being the most expensive, somehow when you're talking expensive places, Moscow doesn't spring to mind!

It fits together a piece of a puzzle for me though, as a few weeks ago, I was sent a list of job vacancies for my line of work (nanny), and the vacancies for the jobs in Moscow were paying 3 times the wages over here, I was really surprised by this, but now I realize that the answer lies in the fact that the cost of living there is so much higher than anywhere else in the world!

It's the corruption in Moscow. Moscow is like Chicago in the 1920s. All sort of gangsters fighting out for control. I mean, real gang leaders, politicians, buisnessmen, etc, setting up a racket to see how much they can swindle people.
