Obama believes life begins at conception?

Obama is one of the most liberal politicians - especially when it comes to abortion. He's the only Illinois Senator who voiced opposition in 2001 to a bill that tried to protect babies who survived botched abortions. He will always side with the woman citing her right to choose. To have this position, one must not believe life begins at conception or even in the womb -- otherwise you would be admittedly advocating murder. So it's odd that Obama said, this Father's Day in Parade Magazine, "That is why we need fathers to step up, to realize that their job does not end at conception." Wait, how can they be fathers at conception if the baby is not a baby at conception? Ref. Source 1

Abortion and Obama

I like how he will say one thing just to get people to like him. When in fact he voted more and more in favor for people to get an abortion even the partial birth abortions. I do not like this man.

Seventy-Six Percent of Americans Say Pro-Abortion President Obama is Liberal

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- According to a new Rasmussen survey of Americans across the country, some 76 percent now think pro-abortion President Obama is at least somewhat liberal. Another 48 percent say he is very liberal. This marks the highest finding to date on the question and is a five-point increase in the number who say the president is very liberal from a month ago. Just before Obama took office in January, 65% said he was at least somewhat liberal, with 35% who described him as very liberal. Seventeen percent and only six percent believe the abortion advocate is conservative. Republicans are three times as likely as Democrats to say Obama is very liberal - 77% to 26%. The plurality (45%) of voters not affiliated with either party agree. Among Democrats, 42% say the president is somewhat liberal and 26% say he is a moderate. Sixty-seven percent (67%) of liberals rate the president as at least somewhat liberal, but only 14% say he's very liberal. For the second month in a row, 53% of voters say the president is governing like a partisan Democrat, while 32% say he is being bipartisan. In late January, only 39% of voters said he was governing in a partisan fashion while 42% said he was being bipartisan. Sixty-nine percent (69%) of voters also say the man who is a heartbeat away from the presidency, Vice President Joe Biden, is at least somewhat liberal. Thirty-five percent (35%) view him as very liberal, while 20% say he is moderate. Seven percent (7%) think the pro-abortion former Delaware senator is conservative. The findings on Biden have been largely unchanged so far this year.

Time Magazine Confirms Health Care Bills Include Taxpayer-Funded Abortions

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Time magazine joins the Associated Press and the nonpartisan FactCheck web site in confirming that the health care bills in Congress allow taxpayer-funded abortions. The weekly publication takes Obama to task saying he "does not tell the whole story" on how the bills fund abortions. "The health-care reform proposed by House Democrats, if enacted, would in fact mark a significant change in the Federal Government's role in the financing of abortions," Time explains. Although the health care bills do not overturn the time-honored protections found in the Hyde amendment and federal laws (though they could be easily overturned by a Democratic-controlled Congress, Time explains how the health care bills set up a new scheme that would not be subjected to those provisions against abortion funding. The main House bill, HR 3200, "does find a way for the Federal Government to expand the coverage of abortion services through a government-run program - the so-called public option - without spending what it defines as federal dollars on abortion." Although awkwardly-worded, Time explains that "money collected from members dues" could be used to pay for abortions. Ref. Source 3

Black Pro-Life Advocates Say Obama's Abortion Support Has Racist Outcome

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- President Barack Obama supports abortion and has done everything possible to expand the number of abortions during his brief tenure as president. While Obama may not have racist motivations for backing abortion, black pro-life advocates are saying that is the outcome. Two African-American pro-life leaders are saying that, because abortions disproportionately target the black community, expanding abortions brings a racial result. Day Gardner, the president of the National Black Pro-Life Union, tells LifeNews.com that Obama's abortion promotion is evident. "In less than nine months he has overturned the Mexico City policy -- which means American tax dollars will be used to pay for foreign abortions. Most of those killed will be the children of my beautiful brothers and sisters in Africa," she explained. 'President Obama's most recent effort is to push a health care bill that will mandate taxpayer funding of abortions. He has gone on record to deny this fact, which leaves many Americans wondering if he has bothered to read the 1000 plus-page monster circulating Congress," she says. Gardner points out that, since the 1973 Supreme Court decision allowing the destruction of more than 50 million unborn children, 17 million of them were black. That represents a larger percentage of the abortions than black Americans as a portion of the American population. Ref. Source 5

Pro-Life Democrats Still Plan to Stop House Health Care Bill Over Abortion Funding

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The leader of a group of 40 pro-life Democrats in the House of representatives says they still plan to stop the government-run health care bill if it is not amended to exclude abortion funding. As media outlets and the nonpartisan FactCheck web site confirm, HR 3200 funds abortion in a few different ways. Rep. Bart Stupak, a Michigan congressman, is a long-time pro-life Democrat who has been a co-leader of the pro-life caucus in the House. He said in July that the pro-abortion Democrats who lead Congress need to allow an amendment to remove taxpayer funding of abortion and insurance mandates for abortions from the bill or he and his colleagues will stop it. "We are going to do everything we can to stop the rule, or the bill, from coming to the floor," Stupak told Time magazine in an article published yesterday. The debate over the rule for debate on the health care "reform" bill could be as contentious as the bill itself. That is because abortion advocates have said they may not allow amendments to remove abortion funding from the legislation. When members of Congress return from their August recess, they will work to combine the three bills House committees have approved into one measure. The House Rules Committee will propose rules for debate and the full house will debate and hold a vote on whether or not to adopt the rules. Ref. Source 2

Writer: President Barack Obama Not Forthright on Abortion Funding in Health Care

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- In a weekend column, nationally syndicated columnist Kathleen Parker says President Barack Obama has not been forthright on the abortion funding found in the health care reform bills Congress is considering. A leading pro-life advocate says Parker is right but understates how much the bills fund abortions. "By not being completely forthright about federal funding issues for the procedure, President Obama has lost some of his momentum in the reform debate," parker writes. "The president may have decided that a thorough explanation was too complicated -- and the subject is not simple. Or perhaps, as some have suggested, he simply doesn't understand it himself," she says. "But Obama figured wrong if he thought he could deflect concerns about one of the nation's most divisive issues with a casual dismissal of those crazy myths." Parker cites the recent analysis form the nonpartisan FactCheck.org web site that confirmed the House and Senate measures both open the door to government funding of abortion. She acknowledges that the congressional bills "allow for funding in indirect -- possibly disingenuous -- ways." Ref. Source 1

New Pew Poll Shows Abortion Support Dropping 11 Percent, Obama as Reason

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new Pew Research Center poll released today shows support for legal abortions has dropped 11 percent from 2008-2009. The poll joins a handful of others from earlier this year confirming there is a growing shift towards the pro-life perspective, perhaps exacerbated by President Barack Obama's pro-abortion record. The findings by the nonpartisan Pew center show Americans taking a pro-abortion position by a 54-40 percentage point margin in 2007 and 2008. Now, two surveys of 5,500 adults found 47 percent support legal abortions with 44 percent opposed. The old 14 percent advantage for the pro-abortion side has dropped to three percent -- very near the margin of error. "Now ... There have been modest increases in the numbers who favor reducing abortions or making them harder to obtain," the polling firm said. "The pattern of changes suggests that the election of a pro-choice Democrat for president may be a contributing factor." One of the largest declines in support for legal abortion has occurred among white, non-Hispanic Catholics who attend Mass at least weekly. Substantial change has also occurred among Democratic men (with support for legal abortion down nine points) but not among Democratic women. Ref. Source 6
