Was the Hulk made "Green" to teach an environmental lesson about gamma rays?

That is funny. I looked this up and gamma rays do not have any color so the green idea must come from a shade of color preferred by the Hulk creators. Sometimes hulk appeared grey though so you'll have to figure out what that means, maybe they just ran out of green ink.

Maybe he was the rival of DC's green lantern and Marvel needed someone green of their own but Hulk has been grey too so the color might be about how is mental capacities are... Who knows.

See the real reason the hulk is green is cause they were drinking incredible hulks when they came up with the idea. Although I don't think the drink was even invented back then.

In one of the Hulk movies the color of the serum / liquid that he injects is green so I guess that is where the color comes from.

I doubt the original creators were thinking about the environment maybe they were thinking all aliens and monsters tend to be green.
