Hands On With Firefox 2 Beta
All the new features for version 2.0 are in this beta, but it's by no means finished. How does it look so far?

Sorry, I won't be using Firefox 2 until it officially releases. To many problems can arise with it and it doesn't work with most of the plugins yet. Mostly they don't work because they haven't even been tested yet. I am excited at the prospect of a new and better firefox though. I have my firefox too customized to change now. What I would like to see is the ability to migrate your F1 settings and customizations to F2 so that it won't be a big issue to switch.
Firefox 2 is now mandatory to fix some security issues, so I upgraded, but I have to admit that I am not all to pleased about version 2. It seems to be a resource hog. There is a new automatic spell checker which is nice, BUT it may also be the reason for the hoggish attitude (this can be disabled by the way).
The other thing I dislike is not having the ability to add a close tab button to the right of all tabs, instead the close button is now on each tab.
Anyone else experiencing problems?

Yes, I must admit that it is cool. I also learned that if you access the about:config section of FireFox (place that in the url field) and then access the spell line and change the number from '1' to '2' then the spell checker will also check multi level forms. Of course changing that to a '0' will also disable the checker. Well, as nice as the spell checker is I have to wonder if it is worth the lag.
UPDATE: Here is a good page to look at about known issues when coming from 1.5 to 2.0: https://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=477283
There are add-ons to Firefox to get a speller. So I would not upgrade for that reason. Security? That's a top concern of mine. But not enough to go to a beta.
I love Firefox (with the IE rendering add-on for incompatible sites), but not enough to wing it yet. I'll wait until the stable version is release. Not to mention I have a LOT of add-ons and I am quite sure they will not work with 2 Beta.
Looking at the features, the ones I would like (that I don't already have) are:
* Changes to tabbed browsing behavior
Slight improvement.
* Ability to re-open accidentally closed tabs
Like this undo.
* New microsummaries feature for bookmarks
Might be useful (but I use online bookmarking mostly)
* Automatic restoration of your browsing session if there is a crash
Already has that built in. How is this an add on?
